Lotrișor Waterfall

Lotrișor Waterfall is in Lotrișorului Valley (Valea Lotrișorului), in Căpățânii Mountains, and it is a tourist site of the Cozia National Park. Its altitude varies from 485 to 515 metres, and the water fall is approximately 30 metres. At the same time, it is the only waterfall in Romania going through a 20 metre long tunnel before the fall. Lotrișor Waterfall was created artificially in the years 1970 – 1971, when the road was rebuilt, and the stream was routed through a tunnel dug in the rock. Visitors can get above the waterfall by hiking and, if the water is low, they can also go upstream through the tunnel.
