Full route name: Tail end of Gura Râului lake - Niculeşti Forest Range - Chalet Z - Râul Mare Valley (Valea Râului Mare) - Şaua Cânaia - Sadului Valley (Şerbănei Forest Range)
Starting from the tail end of the Gura Râului lake, the route takes hikers to Niculești near Chalet Z, a chalet with a big Z on it that inspires its name, and by the rocky formation called La Bisericuță, a rock that bears a solitary icon on its eastern side. The forest road continued steeply toward the Șaua Cânaia on the Râului Mare valley (Valea Râului Mare), and the edges of the depressions from Iezerul Mare can be seen in the distance ahead.

Find the locationOne of the ways to get to the tail end of the Gura Râului lake is by personal car. However, in order to have a minimum impact on the environment and the lowest pollution level, we recommend you to gather in groups, in the smallest number of cars possible. Another transport modality is to go to Gura Râului by bus and, from there, you can cover the route in approximately 2 hours on foot, from the commune to the barrier lake. The bus schedule can be found on the autocare.ro website.
At the base of the route you will find a map with all the information needed for the route. Follow the markings and the signage on the route and it will be very easy to find your way. Enjoy your hike!
But be careful: this route is a very long one, having as destination the Șerbănei Forest Range. If you choose your personal car for transport, you will have to return to the middle of the road to get back to the barrier lake from Gura Râului or spend the night on the route and return to the starting point the next day.
