Salgo Fortress

Salgo Fortress is built at an altitude of 1098 m, and, according to the legend, it was once build by the giants. They also say that it is the place where Decebal hid a major part of his treasures, so that Traian’s soldiers would not find them and take them. The fortress is considered to be one of the oldest settlements of the 6th century. Today, the only element that still stands is the foundation of the surveillance tower, which had a perfectly circular shape, as well as one of the walls. Also, the entrance gate and the defence moat can be distinguished.
