About Anii Drumeției

The Anii Drumeției (“Years of Hiking”) programme started from the need to adapt Sibiu County’s tourism promotion strategy to the current global context. Social distancing, travel restrictions, people’s need to go out in nature, to appreciate the simple things, such as a walk outdoors, provided an opportunity to make the most of Sibiu County’s natural patrimony. Thus, the The Anii Drumeției (“Years of Hiking”) programme aims to provide an alternative for spending time outdoors, an exercise in exploring natural resources and local communities. One of the main objectives of the programme is to ensure the propitious conditions to live authentic experiences, in nature.

Improving the hiking infrastructure and encouraging outdoor activities

The Anii Drumeției (“Years of Hiking”) programme is initiated and funded by Sibiu County Council, in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association, and it covers the whole of Sibiu County. The main aim is to improve the hiking infrastructure in the county and to promote specific ecotourism activities – hiking, cycling, horse riding, flora and fauna observation, and cultural tours.

The mission of the Anii Drumeției (“Years of Hiking”) programme is to encourage spending time outdoors and practicing non-intrusive activities, specific for ecotourism.

To provide the safest and most favourable possible framework for pleasant experiences in nature, we aim to improve the hiking infrastructure in Sibiu County and to create a joint platform for tour operators.

Our wish is to contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the local area, to nurture the joy of discovering and of protecting local nature and culture, both from the perspective of the visitors, and of the local communities.

We aim to develop a sustainable strategy for the conservation of the natural areas and of the local traditions, based on collaboration and on mitigating the negative impact.

Our respect for nature, for the local communities that we visit, is the same as the one that we have for ourselves. A healthy lifestyle involves conscious choices, and where can one draw near to oneself, if not in nature?

We believe in the power of travel-worn bodies and of quiet minds, in the joy of discovery and rediscovery, in the nostalgia of simple things.
