Sibiel – Andrei Oțetea Chalet – Poiana Godia – Sibiel
A trail starting from the exit of Sibiel toward Crinț, following the water stream for about 3.2 km on the blue triangle trail.
At the hermitage, we will cross the Sibiel stream to the left and begin a slightly steeper climb than before. After another 4.5 km, we’ll leave the forest road and turn left toward Poiana Godia, reaching in less than 30 minutes the Andrei Oțetea Rest and Creation House, managed by the ASTRA County Library.
We’ll take a cultural and culinary break here, then return to Sibiel following the blue dot trail through Fânațele Sibielului. About 300 m after entering the forest, those with extra energy can climb to the right along the ridge to discover the ruins of Salgo Fortress (the Giants’ Fortress), while the others can rest and wait.
We’ll then rejoin the blue dot trail and continue descending toward the meadow near the Sibiel stream, where we left our cars a few hours earlier.

Find the locationFrom Sibiu, you can reach the Sibiel CFR Halt in about 30 minutes by CFR Regio train. The schedule can be found on the website mersultrenurilor.infofer.ro. If you don’t choose the train, you can drive your personal car. In about 20 minutes, you’ll arrive at your destination and enjoy a long and beautiful walk through the charming tourist village of Sibiel. To limit environmental impact, we recommend carpooling as much as possible. Once at the start of the actual trail, you’ll find a map with all the necessary route information. Follow the trail markings and signs - they’ll make navigation easy. Happy hiking!
