Hiking in the Făgăraș Mountains: Calțun Lake and Grigore’s path

We propose a hike on a spectacular and less-traveled route, with superb panoramas — a trail following the classic Făgăraș Ridge route from Bâlea Lake to Călțun Lake, returning by a different path on the southern slope. The return route, known as “Grigore’s Trail”, offers new views, hidden valleys, and a unique perspective of the southern section of the Transfăgărășan Road.

The trail is of medium to difficult level and is recommended for hikers with mountain experience. It covers almost 11 km, with an elevation gain of about 1000 meters. The ridge section includes some short technical passages, chains, and brief moments of scrambling.
