Early autumn hike in the Făgăraș Mountains: Suru Chalet and Peak

We propose a moderately difficult to challenging trail that takes you through picturesque landscapes: Avrig Valley – Suru Cabin – Mountain Rescuers’ Monument – Suru Peak.

We start from Poiana Neamțului and follow the forest road as far as cars can go, then continue the ascent toward Culmea Moașei, following the trail to Cabana Suru. Here, we’ll take our first break for coffee or tea and enjoy the surrounding views.

We then continue the climb toward Suru Peak, passing by the Mountain Rescuers’ Monument. Once we reach the summit, we’ll take a short rest, admire the Făgăraș Ridge, and descend on the same trail.
