Dear Hiker,
Join us for a spectacular early autumn experience and enjoy the most stunning views of Moldoveanu Peak at sunset and sunrise.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We will depart on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 8:30 AM from the Kaufland parking lot (Șelimbăr) with personal cars towards Bâlea Lake. The hike will begin at 10:30 AM towards Podragu Cabin.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Day One:
At 10:30 AM, we will depart from Bâlea Lake towards Podragu Cabin on the following route:
Șaua Capra – Capra Lake – Climbers’ Monument – Fundul Caprei Cirque – Portița Arpașului (Fereastra Zmeilor) – La 3 Pași de Moarte – Nerlinger Monument – Paru de Fier Peak – Arpașul Mare Peak – Mircii Peak – Podu Giurgiului Lake – Podragu Saddle – Podragu Cabin
After 6:00 PM, we will hike up to Podragu Peak to enjoy the sunset.
Optional: Capra Peak or Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak can be climbed along the route.
Distance: 10 km – 12 km
Elevation Gain: 500 m
Trail Difficulty: Medium
Hiking Duration: Approximately 10 – 12 hours.
Day Two:
Optional: Podragu Cabin – Moldoveanu Peak + 7 hours
Podragu Cabin – Saddle between Lakes – Podrăgel Cirque – Arpașul Ridge – Portița Frunții – Pietroasa Cirque – Portița Arpașului (Fereastra Zmeilor) – Fundul Caprei Cirque – Capra Lake – Șaua Capra – Bâlea Lake
Duration: 6 hours
Distance: 9 km
Elevation Gain: 700 m

Optional:
Podragu Cabin – Moldoveanu Peak for Sunrise
Departure at 6:00 AM towards Moldoveanu Peak.
Duration: 7 hours
Distance: 13 km
Elevation Gain: 500 m
Trail Difficulty: Difficult
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Change of shirts, pants, and socks, mountain boots, raincoat, hiking poles (recommended), waterproof pants, hat, flashlight, whistle, water bottle (min 1.5 liters), food, snacks, sunscreen, sleeping bag.
COSTS
140 lei/person
Accommodation will be between 65 – 90 lei/person.
Transport, accommodation, and meals will be paid separately and independently.

Note:
– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
