Dear hiker,
Join a spectacular early autumn experience and enjoy the most wonderful views of Moldoveanu Peak at sunset and sunrise.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Departure will be on Saturday, 20.09.2024 at 7:30 from the Kaufland parking lot (Șelimbăr) with personal cars towards Bâlea Lake, and then we will start hiking at 9:30 towards Podragu Chalet.
ROUTE INFORMATION
First day:
Route: Bâlea Lake Chalet – Capra Saddle – Fereastra Zmeilor – Podragel Lake – Podragu Chalet.
Optional: Podragu Chalet – Podragu Peak for the most wonderful sunset.
At 17:45 we will climb Podragu Peak to enjoy the sunset.
Distance: 15 km
Cumulative elevation gain: +1100 m
Trail difficulty: medium/difficult.
For those who wish to stop at Podragu Chalet, the trail is medium level.
Hike duration: approx. 8–9 hours.
Optional to Podragu Peak:
Distance: + 4 km
Elevation gain: + 300 m
Trail difficulty: medium/difficult.
Hike duration: + 2 hours.
Second day:
Podragu Chalet → Podragu Saddle → Podu Giurgiului Lake → Mircii Peak → Arpașul Mare Peak → Nerlinger Monument → “Three Steps from Death” → Arpașul Pass → Fereastra Zmeilor Refuge – Capra Waterfall.
Optional: Moldoveanu Peak
Duration: 6 hours
Distance: 12–13 km
Elevation gain: ascent +650 m / descent -1100 m
Trail difficulty: difficult
Optional:
Podragu Chalet – for Moldoveanu Peak and sunrise on the ridge.
Departure at 06:00 towards Moldoveanu Peak.
Duration: + 6 hours
Distance: + 11 km
Elevation gain: + 550 m
Trail difficulty: difficult
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
T-shirts, pants and spare socks, mountain boots, rain poncho, hiking poles (recommended), waterproof pants and jacket, cap, headlamp, whistle, water bottle min. 1.5 liters, food, bars, sunscreen.
COSTS
150 lei participation fee for the hike.
100 lei participation fee for minors > 14 years old.
150 lei accommodation / person.
Transport, accommodation, and meals will be paid separately and individually.
75 lei/child < 18 years old.
Age limit: 16 years. Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.

Note:
– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
