Dear hikers,
We will depart from Sibiu at 3:00 AM with personal cars, driving together to Bâlea Lac. We will park in a suitable spot and start the ascent to Șaua Caprei around 4:40 AM, aiming to be on Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak by 6:30, ready for the sunrise at 6:44. After a photo session on the summit, we will descend towards Acul Revolver, join the ridge trail marked with the red stripe (BR), and continue to Fereastra Zmeilor. From here, we will descend to the refuge of the same name and then, via Poteca lui Năstase, reach the southern side of the Transfăgărășan. From this point, we will return to recover the cars from Bâlea Lac.
This hike is suitable ONLY for participants with medium to good physical condition and for children aged 12+ with previous mountain experience. The ascent to Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak will be done in the dark, using headlamps.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet at 3:00 AM in the DECATHLON parking lot, at Shopping City Șelimbăr.
From there we drive with personal cars on the route: Sibiu – Bâlea Lake, parking near Cabana Bâlea Lac.

Elevation gain: +500 m / Elevation loss: –900 m
Difficulty: medium
Duration: approximately 5–6 hours (including a 30 min break on Vânătoarea lui Buteanu Peak)
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Season-appropriate layered clothing, including a waterproof outer layer; change of base layer or shirt; long trousers
Headlamp with spare batteries; protective gloves (cycling gloves work too), with or without fingers, for handling chains or ladders on the trail
Small daypack, bottle with hot tea/water (min. 1L), sunglasses
Snacks for trail breaks (recommended: sandwich, pastry, something sweet – chocolate or energy bar)
Trekking poles, hat, gloves
TRANSPORTATION
We can provide round-trip transport for a limited number of people. To reserve a spot, please contact us by phone at 0722-177001 after registering.
After registration, the guide will create a WhatsApp group for carpooling arrangements. Shared transport costs will be agreed with the driver.
COSTS
80 lei/adult, 50 lei/student (over 12 years old), 20 lei/child under 12
The tour will take place with a minimum of 8 adult participants.
Children aged 5+ may join if they have minimum hiking experience and are accompanied by an adult, with parents responsible for assessing trail difficulty for their kids.

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
