Dear hiker,
We invite you to Rășinari, on a day when the village celebrates three holidays at once: Pentecost, Vărzar Day and Children’s Day.
It is one of those days when children run through the village, and traditions can still be seen naturally, even if they are sometimes prepared especially for tourists. It is a special day because this year, Vărzar Day and Children’s Day are celebrated on the second day of Pentecost!
An experience you can live only once every few years!
Vărzar Day is now in its ninth edition, and the Călușari Ensemble from Rășinari has been inviting children to play for many years, but this is the first time we bring everything together as one single event!
At 11:00 we meet at the Rășinari Cultural Center and set off on an easy hike through the village.
The experience begins with a guided hike through Rășinari, together with Georgiana Tara. We discover stories about the village at the foot of the mountains, where the community grew together, and we visit the Rășinari Ethnographic Museum, one of the places that preserves the memory of local history.
After the hike, we return to the village center for a vărzar tasting, the specific pie from Mărginimea Sibiului, celebrated in its ninth edition and prepared according to the local recipe.
The day continues with activities dedicated to children, face painting, games, a raffle together with the Călușari from Rășinari and artistic moments.

The “Anii Drumeției” Program is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. Its main purpose is to improve hiking infrastructure in the county and promote activities specific to ecotourism.
