Join us for a storybook experience at Cabana Suru!
We’ll ascend through the forest to the cabin, just in time to witness a breathtaking sunset that bathes the valleys in warm light and serenity. The evening will be spent above the treeline—sharing good company, stories, and fresh mountain air.
The next day, we head to the ridge toward glacial cirques and panoramic views that take your breath away. We’ll reach Lake Avrig—a blue mirror among the cliffs—and then descend at a relaxed pace, returning with clear minds and smiling hearts.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Departure: Friday, 08.08.2025 at 16:30, from the Kaufland parking lot (Șelimbăr), traveling by personal cars toward Valea Avrigului (Podul Jibrii), where the hike to Cabana Suru begins.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Day 1:
At 17:30, we start from above Podul Jibrii toward Cabana Suru.
Distance: 8 km
Elevation gain: 750 m
Trail difficulty: medium
Duration: 2–3 hours
Optional: those eager can continue above the cabin for an even more spectacular sunset.
Day 2:
Route: Cabana Suru – Vf. Suru – Vf. Budislavu – Poarta Avrigului – Lake Avrig – Cabana Suru (semi-circuit), then back to Valea Avrigului.
Optional: you may stop at Poarta Avrigului and skip the walk to Lake Avrig—which shortens the route.
If the group is moving well, other peaks in the area can be added.
Distance: 18–22 km
Elevation gain: 1350 m
Trail difficulty: hard
Hike duration: 8–9 hours
Experience duration: 10–11 hours
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
change of t-shirts, pants, and socks; hiking boots; rain poncho; hiking poles (recommended); waterproof pants and jacket; cap; headlamp; whistle; water bottle (min. 1.5–2 L); food, energy bars; insect spray; sunscreen

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
