Dear hikers,
At the start of this summer, we invite you to an unforgettable experience—hiking in the beautiful Făgăraș Mountains. We’ll have the chance to admire stunning views along the ridges, and with a bit of luck, we’ll get to see the beautiful flowers of the season, Rhododendron kotschyi.
The hike will be as follows:
We’ll start from Paltinul Cabin and follow the trail toward Șaua and Paltinu Peak, then continue along the ridge trail toward Iezerul Caprei Peak. During the hike, we’ll take a well-deserved break for snacks brought from home, while enjoying the landscape.
This is an easy to moderate hike, suitable for people with at least some hiking experience, as the terrain is technical, with plenty of rocks typical of the alpine zone.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet at 9:00 AM in the Hervis parking lot. From there, we’ll travel by personal car on the route: Sibiu – Cârțișoara – Bâlea Lake, where we’ll park at around 10:30 AM.
For those without a car, there will be a cost per person, paid directly to the driver with available seats. Please let us know if you need a ride, so we can check availability.

Distance: 6 km
Elevation gain: +/- 400 m
Trail difficulty: easy to moderate
Hiking duration: approximately 5 hours (plus 3.5 hours for transport)
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Since temperatures can drop significantly at high altitude, we recommend the following:
Gloves
Hat/buff
Mountain boots
Rain and windproof clothing
Fleece
Down jacket (warm jacket)
Thermos with tea, water bottle (minimum 1.5 L)
Snacks (sandwiches, bars, fruit)

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.

The “Anii Drumeției” Program is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. Its main purpose is to improve hiking infrastructure in the county and promote activities specific to ecotourism.
