Dear hikers,
On Sunday, December 7, we will set off once again with both little ones and grown-ups on a new adventure in the rich nature of the Cindrel Mountains. Since St. Nicholas will have passed by the night before to leave sweet gifts, we will organize a treasure hunt for the children in the magical forest we will explore on our easy hike along the Cindrel ridges. The gentle and easy path, with almost no elevation gain, will lead us through clusters of spruce trees, wide meadows, and scattered mountain huts. Along the way, we will make short stops to give the children the chance to search among the trees for the sweet gifts that fell from St. Nicholas’ sleigh as he flew over this area the evening before, on his way to Sibiu and the surrounding villages.
We will stop on a meadow with an impressive view toward Gura Râului, where we will build a small fire and prepare the goodies we will have brought with us (juicy sausages, delicious bacon, and, of course, the now-traditional marshmallows). On this occasion, the guide will offer all participants a sweet surprise. After the hearty meal, we will return to the cars and head home to rest after a day full of movement, fresh air, and majestic scenery.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet in the morning at 9:30 in the parking lot of Jacobs Restaurant at the Sibiu Zoo. After a short presentation of the day’s plan, we will group into cars and head toward Păltiniș. We will park at the entrance to the Platoș Păltiniș area and start walking on a ridge path with beautiful views over the Sibiu Depression.
