Dear hikers,
We invite you back to Boița, set in a fairytale-like autumn landscape. Though it’s November, the warm fall colors still linger, ready to delight us once again. We’ll also explore the small hamlet of Răcorele, where we hope to meet the elderly couple who, with enduring love for the place, continue to live here.
Our hike will follow a trail used by locals, leading us to Răvicuței Peak in the Lotru Mountains. The scenery is spectacular, typical of the Mărginimea region, with hay huts, sheep pens, and stunning vistas, enhanced now by the colors of autumn: we’ll see Suru Peak from a new perspective, admire Cozia in the distance along the Olt Valley, and be impressed by the snow-covered crest of Sterpu Peak to the south.
As we’ve come to expect on hikes in Boița, we’ll enjoy views of the Olt River as it enters the gorge. The trail will be filled with captivating stories and insights into the area’s rich history, given that the village is located on the southern border of Transylvania.
For added delight, hikers can enjoy aromatic coffee and a sweet treat in a spot with a superb panorama.
This is a medium-difficulty trail, 14 kilometers long, with an elevation gain of 700 meters. In some areas, the path traverses steeper sections in the forest, so participants should be in good physical condition with some basic hiking experience.
We look forward to exploring this enchanting corner of nature with you!
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We’ll meet at 9:00 AM in the parking lot near KFC Selimbar, from where we’ll head to Boița, grouped in cars.
