How do we know what pace is right for us in the mountains? When do we need a break, and what role do water and nutrition play during physical effort?

On day 9 of the Anii Drumeției Summer School, we set out on a hike dedicated to children, where movement combines with mountain education and an important lesson for every hiker: how to understand our own body and manage our effort correctly.

Together with guide Teodora Sabina Bobeș, we will follow a route through Dumbrava Forest and learn directly on the trail how to prepare for a hike, what equipment to choose, how to navigate and what rules we need to follow when we are in nature.

We will pay special attention to managing effort. Children will learn how to adapt their pace according to the terrain and their own abilities, how to recognise signs of fatigue and why taking breaks at the right time is important. We will also talk about hydration and nutrition before, during and after physical effort.

Along the route, we will have educational stops, exercises and small navigation and exploration challenges, through which the children will be encouraged to observe, ask questions and work together. Because in the mountains, what matters is not who arrives first, but knowing how to manage our energy, look after one another and safely reach the end of the route together.

ANII DRUMEȚIEI SUMMER SCHOOL

A series of hikes and workshops where the mountains and nature become the most beautiful classroom. We learn directly on the trail, alongside guides, about nature, navigation, safety, history and all those things that help us become more curious, better prepared and more responsible hikers.

At #9, we learn that in the mountains we do not need to be the fastest. We need to know how to listen to our bodies, manage our energy and enjoy every step.

By registering their child for this activity, the parent or legal representative declares that the child is fit to participate in outdoor activities and gives consent for photographs to be taken and used for the purpose of promoting the “Anii Drumeției” Programme.

The “Anii Drumeției” Programme is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council, in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association, with the aim of promoting hiking, outdoor education and ecotourism-specific activities in Sibiu County.
