How do we choose the right route? What do we put in our backpack? How do we check the weather, and what do we do if the plan needs to change along the way?
On the next day of the Anii Drumeției Summer School, we head out onto the hills of Rășinari for an educational hike where we will learn, step by step, how to properly prepare for an outing in nature. Our goal is not simply to complete a route, but to understand what decisions we need to make before setting off and during the hike so that the entire experience takes place safely.
We will talk about choosing a route according to the group’s level, checking the forecast and potential risks in the terrain, calculating hiking time and preparing an alternative plan. We will discover what equipment is needed depending on the season and duration of the hike, how to organise our water and food, and why spare clothing, a headlamp, an emergency blanket or a first aid kit should never be missing from our backpack.
An important part of the workshop will be dedicated to navigation. We will learn how to prepare a map and a GPS route for offline use, how to check our position in the field and why we should not rely exclusively on our phone when we are in the mountains.
We will also discuss unexpected situations: what we do if someone gets injured, if the weather changes or if the route can no longer be continued safely. The principle of the day is simple: it is not only about reaching the destination, but also about knowing why we chose the route, how we prepared for it and when it is time to change the plan.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
At 09:10, at the Cimitir bus stop, in the direction of Rășinari.

ANII DRUMEȚIEI SUMMER SCHOOL
A series of hikes and workshops where the mountains and nature become the most beautiful classroom. We learn directly on the trail, alongside guides, about nature, orientation, safety, history and all those things that help us become more curious, better prepared and more responsible hikers.
At #6, we learn that a successful hike begins long before the first step on the trail.
Note: The organisers reserve the right to modify the programme or route depending on weather conditions and participant safety.
By registering their child for this activity, the parent or legal representative declares that the child is fit to participate in outdoor activities and gives consent for photographs to be taken and used for the purpose of promoting the “Anii Drumeției” Programme.
The “Anii Drumeției” Programme is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council, in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association, with the aim of promoting hiking, outdoor education and ecotourism-specific activities in Sibiu County.
