What do we do if someone gets injured in the mountains and specialised help is still far away? How can we intervene correctly and safely until rescuers arrive?

On the fifth day of the Anii Drumeției Summer School, we learn one of the most important lessons for any mountain lover: how to react in the event of an accident and how we can provide first aid to an injured person.

Together with guide Dana Bancioiu, we will set off from Rășinari along the trail towards Fraga Peak, and the route will turn into a practical first aid workshop. We will discuss how to assess an emergency situation, how to call for help and what we can do when rescue teams cannot reach us immediately.

Through demonstrations and practical exercises, the children will discover how to immobilise a possible fracture, how to clean and protect a wound, what haemostasis means and how a stretcher can be improvised using the resources we have at hand.

We will also prepare a mini first aid kit for the mountains and find out what essential items we should carry with us every time we set out on a hike.

It is a day about responsibility, attentiveness and helping others. Because knowing how to enjoy the mountains also means knowing how to react when an unexpected situation arises.
