Dear Hikers,
We invite you to join us for a unique experience: a fairytale hike that will take you along the trails surrounding the village of Vale. This traditional village in Mărginimea Sibiului, hidden between Sibiel and Săliște, is a true gem where the charm of traditional architecture remains intact. A walk through its narrow streets will give you the feeling of returning to childhood, to the times spent at your grandparents’ home.
Our route starts right from the village of Vale, continues on a country road connecting Vale to Sibiel, and leads us uphill through a cool forest. From here, we will admire an impressive panorama of the village of Sibiel, with the Făgăraș Mountains outlined in the distance. Shortly after, we step onto an old forest road once used by the locals, passing through a dense forest that leads us to the pasture area above Poiana Soarelui.
From this point, we will follow the thematic trail set up by “Anii Drumeției”, descending towards Săliște past the Foltea Monastery. On the way back to Vale, we will discover a lesser-known part of Săliște, where the old and authentic houses of Mărginimea tell their stories through their architectural details. In Vale, we will enjoy one last panorama of the village, walking through its picturesque streets to the starting point.
The hike has a medium difficulty level, with an elevation gain of approximately 650 meters and a total distance of 13 km. It is ideal for those who love nature, tranquility, and the authentic beauty of Mărginimea Sibiului.

We meet at 9:00 AM in the parking lot near Valea Aurie cabin.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Hiking boots, season-appropriate hiking pants, technical base layer made of synthetic or merino material, fleece, windproof and/or waterproof jacket, cap or hat, backpack with a spare shirt, 1.5 L of water, and food for a picnic.
TRANSPORTATION
We offer free transportation for up to 8 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Seat allocation and confirmation in the minibus will be done after purchasing the participation ticket, through a message sent to the guide.

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.

The “Anii Drumeției” Program is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. Its main purpose is to improve hiking infrastructure in the county and promote activities specific to ecotourism.
