WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO BEFORE ANY HIKE?
On the second day of the Anii Drumeției Summer School, we move from mountain stories to one of the most important lessons for any hiker: proper preparation before setting out on the trail.
Together with guide Radu Zaharie, we will follow the Rășinari – Coasta Boacii – Dealul Coastei – Rășinari circuit and turn the trail into an outdoor workshop. We will discover how to prepare for a hike, how to choose the right equipment, what should never be missing from our backpack and why it is important to consider the route and weather conditions before setting off.
We will learn not only what we need to carry with us, but also how to make the right decisions before and during a hike. Because a great mountain experience always begins with good preparation.
The route is easy and accessible for children, allowing the workshop to provide enough time for explanations, questions and practical exercises along the way.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Tuesday, 25 August 2026, at 09:15, at the Cimitir bus stop, in the direction of Rășinari.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Route: Rășinari – Coasta Boacii – Dealul Coastei – Rășinari
Total duration of the activity: approximately 6 hours (Sibiu – Sibiu)
Actual hiking duration: approximately 2–3 hours
Elevation gain: approximately +250 m
Route difficulty: Easy
Age: 8–14 years
Theme: Workshop on proper preparation and equipment for hiking – “What do we need to know, but most importantly, what do we need to do before any hike?”
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
- Mountain boots with rigid, non-slip soles;
- Clothing adapted to the weather conditions on the day;
- Spare T-shirt;
- Thermal layer;
- Rain poncho;
- Cap/sun protection;
- Water bottle – minimum 1 litre;
- Sandwiches, snacks and fruit.
COSTS
Participation in the activity is free of charge, as part of the Anii Drumeției Summer School.
Transportation will be by public transport, and the cost of the tickets will be covered by the participants. The exact transportation cost will be communicated to parents after the place has been confirmed and the WhatsApp group has been created.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Participation is only possible with prior registration, by completing the dedicated form.
Places are limited to 12 children, and participation will be confirmed in the order of registration (the first 12 children registered).
After participation is confirmed, parents will be invited to a WhatsApp group, where they will receive all information regarding the activity, including details about transportation, equipment and schedule.
The organisers reserve the right to modify the programme or route depending on weather conditions and participant safety.

ANII DRUMEȚIEI SUMMER SCHOOL
