Dear hikers,

We continue the series dedicated to the highest peaks in Romania with stage II of the “13 peaks over 2500 m” project, a two-day adventure in the eastern Făgăraș Massif, where we will conquer four of the most spectacular peaks over 2,500 m.

On the first day, we will start from Valea Sâmbetei (trying to drive as high as possible) and climb towards Cheia Bândei, continuing towards Dara Peak and Hârtopu Darei Peak. We will then return on the ridge route to Fereastra Mare a Sâmbetei, where we will spend the night near the refuge. If there are available places in the refuge, we will be able to spend the night there; otherwise, we will camp in tents.

On the second day, we will set off towards Viștea Mare Peak and Moldoveanu Peak, the highest peak in Romania, after which we will return to Fereastra Mare and descend towards Cabana Valea Sâmbetei, respectively towards the place where we left the cars.

The hike is intended for people with good or very good physical fitness, who have experience on alpine routes and are used to large elevation differences and demanding routes.

WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?

We meet on Saturday, 25 July, at 05:00, in the DECATHLON parking lot, in Shopping City Șelimbăr.

From there, we will travel by personal cars on the route Sibiu – Cabana Valea Sâmbetei, where we will park the cars. At the end of the tour, we will return to the same place to recover them.
