Dear hikers,
We invite you to a circuit hike on Via Transilvanica, between Richiș and Biertan, through the spectacular landscapes of the Târnava Mare area.
We will start from Richiș and follow the Via Transilvanica route towards Biertan, crossing gentle hills, pastures and forests specific to this region. We will not go all the way to Biertan, but will close the circuit by turning right and following the Mediaș Marathon Bike route until we return to Richiș.
At the end of the hike, those who wish can spend the rest of the day at the Green Man Festival in Richiș, where the organizers offer numerous activities: brunch with local products, a guided visit to the fortified church, an organ concert and other experiences specific to the area.
The hike is suitable for everyone, with or without hiking experience, who has a minimum level of physical fitness.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet at 08:30, in the Kaufland parking lot on Calea Șurii Mari, Sibiu.
From there, we will travel by personal cars on the route: Sibiu – Bârghiș – Richiș.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Distance: 12.5 km
Elevation gain: 390 m
Route difficulty: low to medium (because of the distance)
Hiking duration: approximately 4–4.5 hours
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
- Hiking shoes or boots with good grip
- Clothing adapted to the season
- Technical T-shirt
- Hiking trousers
- Waterproof outer layer
- Spare T-shirt
- Small day backpack
- Water bottle (minimum 1–1.5 litres)
- Snack for the route (fruit, energy bars etc.)
TRANSPORTATION
We can provide round-trip transportation for a limited number of people. To reserve your place, please contact us by phone at 0722 177 001, after completing the registration.
After the registration process is completed, the guide will create a WhatsApp group where we will organize and redistribute ourselves in the cars of those coming by personal car. Registration does not guarantee a place in a car, as seats will be distributed at departure, depending on availability.
Transportation costs will be shared by the occupants of each car, by agreement with the driver.

- 40 lei/pupil or student
- Free for children under 8 years old
Participation in the activities of the Green Man Festival is separate, according to the organizers’ conditions.
The tour will take place with a minimum of 10 paying participants.
Children over 5 years old may participate if each is accompanied individually by an adult. Parents are responsible for assessing the difficulty of the route in relation to the child’s ability.

Note:
– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.

The “Anii Drumeției” Program is initiated and funded by the Sibiu County Council in collaboration with the Sibiu County Tourism Association. Its main purpose is to improve hiking infrastructure in the county and promote activities specific to ecotourism.
