Route: Mediaș – Bazna and its mysterious surroundings
A relaxed hike, open to everyone from young to old.
Spring is the perfect time to discover the beauty of the hills in the heart of Transylvania. The fresh air, the bright green of the hills and pastures, the first signs of spring, and the quiet country roads create the ideal setting for a day spent in nature.
We set off from Mediaș on an easy hike along a picturesque section of the Via Transilvanica, winding through gentle hills, forests, and pastures. Along the way, we will enjoy wide views toward Saxon villages and the forests that shape the Târnava Hills region, discovering the authentic charm of this area.
After a few hours of relaxed walking, we arrive in Bazna, where a delicious stop awaits us: a visit to the pantry of local delicacies at Bassen Pension, a welcoming, rustic place with an authentic atmosphere. Our hosts will share stories and curiosities about the Bazna resort, while we enjoy local flavors and the peaceful surroundings.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Sunday, 22.03.2026 at 09:00, Hornbach Sibiu parking lot.
We will group into personal cars and head toward Mediaș.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Level: easy
Elevation gain: 200 – 300 m
Hiking duration: 3 – 4 hours
Total experience duration: 6 hours
Distance: 6.5 – 11 km
We will cover approximately 6.5 km to Bazna, where we will stop at the pantry of local delights. After this break, for those who wish to continue, there will be an optional route of approximately 4.5 km, exploring the beautiful surroundings of the Bazna area.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Spare T-shirts, pants and socks, mountain boots, rain poncho, water bottle min. 1 liter, snacks, whistle, headlamp, trekking poles (optional). It is best to dress in layers, as mornings are cooler and it becomes much warmer around midday.
COSTS
Hike participation: 80 RON adults and 40 RON child
Costs:
Optional – traditional menu at the pantry of local delights (based on a suggested donation):
Adult: 60 RON
Child (up to 12 years): 30 RON
Traditional potato soup with smoked meat will be served, and the hosts will prepare other homemade treats and house surprises.

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
