Dear hikers,
In winter, Mărginimea Sibiului has something special: gently rolling hills offering delightful views, the smoke rising from houses in the distance that gives a feeling of warmth—even though every breath reveals just how cold the air is. Everything around us creates a fairytale-like setting. A setting we aim to discover through this accessible hike, enjoyed at a relaxed pace.
We will set off from Galeș and climb up the Valea Muierii toward Poiana Soarelui. Once there, we will learn a bit about the sculpture camps organized here more than 40 years ago, enjoy beautiful views of the Făgăraș Mountains, then begin our descent toward Schitul Foltea. After a short break at the hermitage, we will continue descending back to Galeș, returning to the valley where our hike began.
The hike is suitable for people with a minimum level of physical fitness and for children aged 8 and up who have previous hiking experience.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet at 9:30, in the Ambient parking lot, on Șos. Alba Iulia:
From there, we will travel by personal cars along the route: Sibiu – Săliște – Galeș, where we will park around 10:00, directly on Str. Vale.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Distance: 7.8 km
Elevation gain: 400 m
Trail difficulty: medium
Hiking duration: approximately 4–5 hours (including necessary breaks along the route).
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
High hiking boots with good grip; boots must also be suitable for snow.
Season-appropriate clothing: base layer, fleece, and a final waterproof layer; spare T-shirt or base layer.
Small daypack. Gaiters, hat, and gloves.
Thermos with tea + water bottle, minimum 1.5 l of liquids.
Snack for a break halfway along the route
Trekking poles can be very helpful.
TRANSPORTATION
We can provide round-trip transportation for a limited number of participants. To reserve a seat, please contact us by phone at 0722-177001 after completing registration.
After the registration process is finalized, the guide will create a WhatsApp group where we will organize and redistribute participants among the cars of those traveling by personal vehicle. Transportation costs will be shared collectively by the occupants of each car.
COSTS
70 RON/adult, 40 RON/pupil or student, 20 RON/child under 12.
The hike will take place with a minimum of 8 adult participants.
Children aged 5 and up may participate, provided they are accompanied by an adult (parents are responsible for assessing the difficulty of the route for their children).

– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
