Dear hikers,
Our easy autumn hike will start from the village of Jina, where we will arrive with our personal cars. We will meet in the morning at 9:30 in the parking lot of Kaufland, at the exit towards Mediaș (near the highway). After a short presentation of the day’s program, we will drive to Jina, first taking the highway to Săliște and then continuing towards Poiana Sibiului – Jina. At the exit from Jina, where the asphalt road begins to descend towards Transalpina, we will park the cars and start our hike on a country road.
We will walk along the country road that follows the mountain ridge called Creasta Porumbelului (the Dove’s Ridge), with impressive views towards the Cindrel Mountains in the south, the Șureanu Mountains in the west, and Mărginimea Sibiului in the east. The country road has no long or steep climbs, keeping us most of the time at the same altitude.
Therefore, the route is easy and suitable for all categories of participants!
During the hike, we will talk about the pastoral traditions of the inhabitants of Jina and Poiana Sibiului, who have sheepfolds and grazing areas in this high region of Mărginimea Sibiului. Here we will also discuss the nearest protected area, the Natura 2000 Frumoasa site, established to protect rare forest bird species, forest habitats, mountain meadows, and many animal species, including large carnivores.
We will try to follow the Dove’s Ridge as much as possible, taking into account the physical abilities of all participants.
The impressive landscapes will accompany us throughout the entire route, making this hike unmissable!
At the midpoint of the hike, we will also prepare some sweet delicacies over a campfire. Participants are encouraged to bring sausages or bacon to cook over the embers!
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
We will meet in the morning at 9:30, 11.10.2025, in the Kaufland parking lot at the exit towards Mediaș.
