Dear hikers,
Join us for a beautiful hike along the ancient shepherds’ trails leading to the highest ridges of the Cindrel and Lotru Mountains. Enjoy the unique landscapes of the Cindrel Natural Park Reserve, its glacial lakes, and the peat bog on the Devil’s Plateau with its special flora and fauna. Here, we’ll witness a sublime sunset in the heart of wilderness.
At the end of the day, we’ll descend to Canaia Refuge for an overnight stay, and the next morning we’ll admire the sunrise from in front of the refuge before heading back toward Păltiniș.
WHERE AND WHEN DO WE MEET?
Date: 30.08.2024 at 7:00 – 31.08.2024 at 15:00, back in Sibiu
Location: Parking lot in front of “Dumbrava Sibiului” Pension and Hilton Hotel
We’ll carpool with personal cars and head to Păltiniș.
ROUTE INFORMATION
Day 1:
Level: difficult
Elevation gain: 1150 m
Total duration: 9-11 hours
Distance: 25 km
Day 2:
Level: medium
Elevation gain: 460 m
Total duration: 4 hours
Distance: 8 km
Day 1 route: Păltiniș – Bătrâna Saddle – Rozdești Peak – Canaia Refuge (leave backpacks) – Șteflești Peak – Cindrel Peak – Sunset “Devil’s Plateau” – descend to Canaia Refuge for overnight stay
Day 2 route: Canaia Refuge – Păltiniș – return to Sibiu. The exact return route will be chosen together depending on the group’s preferences, ensuring arrival in Sibiu by 15:00.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
T-shirts, socks, and spare pants, high-ankle hiking boots, rain poncho, waterproof jacket and pants, hiking poles (recommended), cap, sunscreen, insect repellent, whistle, water bottle min. 1.5 liters, magnesium, food for the hike, sleeping bag.

75 lei/child < 18 years
Age limit: 16 years (exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis)

Note:
– The route configuration and length will be adjusted according to weather conditions and the homogeneity/heterogeneity of the group.
– The organizer (guide) reserves the right to refuse participants who are not appropriately equipped or who have inadequate physical condition.
– Tours are conducted under safe conditions and with a minimum number of participants. The organizer reserves the right to reschedule or cancel tours without prior notice if these conditions are not met.
– Ticket refunds are only provided in case the organizer (guide) cancels the hike.
